What happened
Particle, a startup from former Twitter engineers, launched Radar this week. The platform transcribes and indexes over 130,000 podcasts, making spoken conversations discoverable via an API. TechCrunch reports that the service adds 20,000 new episodes to its index daily.
The transcriptions include speaker labels and rich metadata. Radar also identifies entities like people, companies, and topics, allowing for detailed search and alerts for programmatic use.
How the room's reading it
The consensus is that Radar opens up a data source most AI agents can't see. Agents primarily crawl text on the web, leaving them blind to the intelligence buried in audio. Particle's CEO, Sara Beykpour, framed the product as providing this missing audio layer for agentic systems.
Early interest seems to validate this. Hedge funds are cited as high-volume API customers, alongside AI search platforms and data resellers. Exa, an API provider for agents, is already a partner — a strong signal that builders see this as a useful tool for enriching their applications with new, hard-to-reach information.
Sailfish's take
We see this as more than just podcast search. The real product here is structured data from unstructured audio. Simple transcription is a commodity — the value is in the entity extraction, the ad tracking, and the ability to monitor mentions over time. It turns hours of conversation into a queryable database.
We wouldn't build another podcast search app with this. We'd build an agent that tracks competitor ad buys across an entire vertical, or a tool that alerts a PR team to every mention of their brand within minutes. This is about spotting signals in noise. If your agents are still only reading the web, you're missing the conversation.
